Professional Career
2022 Monterey Bay
Roberts captained the Crisp and Kelp in 2022 and anchored the back line in 30 starts across 2,690 minutes. Defensively, Roberts recorded 40 interceptions, 29 blocks, 28 tackles and a team-high 124 clearances. He also added three goals and one assist on the year, including the game-winning goal in the 90th minute in Oakland for the Club’s first-ever win. In addition, Roberts earned two league-wide Team of the Week honors. With another season in the books, Roberts now sits at #7 all time in games played in USL Championship history with 233 and #3 all time in minutes played with 18,627.
2019-2021 Charlotte Independence
In Roberts three seasons with the Charlotte Independence, the Maryland native recorded 71 blocks and six goals in 82 appearances (80 starts), and added a goal and an assist in a 5-0 rout of Loudoun United on September 9, 2021. As a result of the 2021 campaign, Roberts moved into 10th place all-time in USL Championship history with 203 regular-season appearances, while his 15,937 minutes are good for third in the league all-time.
2018 Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC
In 2018, Roberts joined Riverhounds SC and played 28 total matches for the club. Additionally, he added two goals and one assist.
2017 Philadelphia Union II
The defender recorded 23 blocks and scored one goal in 25 appearances for Union II in 2017.
2014-2016 Richmond Kickers
Roberts made his professional debut with USL League One side Richmond Kickers. In three seasons at the club, Roberts appeared in 78 matches and scored two goals. In 2016, the center back earned USL All-League Team honors after starting in all 31 of his appearances.
Collegiate
Roberts attended George Mason University and made 48 starts in 69 total appearances. The central defender earned third team All-CAA honors in 2012 and was named to both the A-10 All-Tournament Team and All-Region second team in 2013.
Roberts founded the USL Black Players Alliance in 2020, an organization led by Black athletes with a mission to educate and empower its members to use their platforms to positively impact their communities. Roberts is also the host of the BackyardFooty Podcast and founder of the BackyardFooty Foundation.
