Records: LA Galaxy II (1-3-1, 4 points); Monterey Bay F.C. (1-4-0, 3 points)
Previous Matches: Monterey Bay’s previous contest was a 5-0 loss in El Paso at the tail end of a three-match week. El Paso held a 2-0 lead when Union midfielder Robbie Crawford received his second yellow card of the night and was ejected from the match, leaving the visitors with 10 men for the entirety of the second half. Locomotive FC took full advantage and ballooned the scoreline to 5-0 by the final whistle.
LA Galaxy II’s previous match was also a loss; it ended 3-1 against Phoenix Rising FC on the road in Chandler, Arizona. After Phoenix took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break with goals in the 31st and 42nd minute, Galaxy II cut the deficit in half in the 68th minute with a goal by Cabral. Phoenix maintained the lead thereafter and then scored a goal in the 90th minute to put the match away for good.
Notes: The Crisp and Kelp’s long run of consecutive away matches continues with a battle against a Galaxy II side that has similarly had its share of early-season struggles. Crawford will miss the match due to red card suspension, while goalkeeper Rafael Diaz, defenders Grant Robinson and Sam Strong are all out due to injury. Monterey Bay F.C. is 1-4-0 all-time on the road, while LA Galaxy II is 49-37-31 all-time as hosts.
