The first good chance of the night for Monterey Bay F.C. came in the 18th minute of the match. Chase Boone beat his defender on the baseline and made a run into the box before laying the ball off to Mobi Fehr. Fehr whipped the ball into the box, but the pass failed to connect and Galaxy II cleared it away. In the 25th minute, a Union turnover just outside the box sprung a counter for Galaxy II that led to a shot on frame, but Dallas Jaye made the save. Then in the 40th minute, LA fired a low cross into the box that landed at the feet of Michael Salazar and his deflected shot bounced into the back of the net to give the home side the 1-0 lead. Just before the half in the 43rd minute, Monterey Bay found itself with a chance inside the box, but the shot from Hugh Roberts missed to the right of the post and the sides entered the break with the scoreline at 1-0.
The Crisp and Kelp began the second half on the front foot, looking dangerous and creating chances, but remained unable to capitalize five minutes into the half. In the 58th minute, Duhaney Williams scored for LA Galaxy II to double the home side’s lead. Monterey Bay connected to score its first goal of the night 10 minutes later to cut the deficit in half when Conneh headed in a cross by Doner. In the 71st minute, the Union looked to level the match, but second half substitute Christian Volesky’s shot from outside of the box ricocheted off the underside of the crossbar, down and out. Roberts received a second yellow in the 81st minute of the match, leaving Monterey Bay F.C. a man down for the second consecutive match and the third time so far this season. LA Galaxy II put the match away five minutes later with a goal on a counter by Preston Judd, who buried a shot past the goalkeeper’s right and the match ended 3-1.
