As both sides felt out the match early on, Monterey Bay F.C. looked dangerous in the 13th minute. Flying down the right side, Morey Doner collected a long ball from the opposite side before slicing a ball across the opponents six yard box, but Volesky was unable to make final contact and the ball rolled out for a throw-in. The Crisp and Kelp continued to apply pressure in the early going of the match, and in the 16th minute, Simon Dawkins fired a right-footed shot from above the 18-yard box, but his shot missed to the right of frame. Solid build-up play led to two additional chances in the 19th and 21st minutes, but chances from James Murphy and Sam Gleadle came up empty. In the 22nd minute on a counter to relieve some pressure, Los Dos found themselves with a two on one down the left side of the pitch, but the shot from Remi Cabral missed to the left. A minute later, the Union found themselves on the front foot once again with Dawkins firing another shot from distance, but his shot hit the top of the crossbar and was cleared away. In the 45th minute of the half, Preston Judd fired a shot on frame for Galaxy II from inside the box, but his shot was saved by Antony Siaha and the half ended scoreless.
20 minutes into the second half, the Union enjoyed a long spell of possession in the opponents’ half of the pitch that ended in a shot from Chase Boone at a tight angle inside the box, but his shot aimed at the near post was saved by the Galaxy II goalkeeper to keep the hosts off the board. Largely against the run of play in the 74th minute, Judd pushed the ball across the six-yard box toward Endoh, who scored with his right foot to give the visitors the lead. With the Union pushing for the equalizer late in added time, Galaxy II countered again, Endoh put the match away with his second goal of the night, and the match ended 2-0 in favor of Los Angeles.
