The primary goal of the U20 program is to identify and recruit young talent, providing them with a clear path to professional soccer. We are committed to nurturing potential through a competitive environment that reflects the demands of professional play, while also fostering personal development.
Integration with the First Team
Monterey Bay FC U20 distinguishes itself through its close collaboration with the first team. High-performing U20 players regularly participate in first team practices, allowing our players to gain invaluable exposure to a USL Championship environment. This integration ensures that our standout players consistently remain in consideration for first team opportunities.
Academy Contracts & Professional Opportunities
Monterey Bay FC recognizes exceptional talent. Academy contracts are awarded to the club’s top prospects, giving elite players the opportunity to train and compete with the professional first team in the USL Championship and the USL Prinx Tires Cup while maintaining NCAA eligibility. These contracts provide a direct pathway to the professional game, rewarding top talent with high-level experience, exposure, and development while also opening future college opportunities.
Club Partnerships – Schalke 04 & CF Pachuca
Our landmark partnerships with Schalke 04 and CF Pachuca allow us to be part of their global group which includes clubs from Netherlands, Spain, Austria, Switzerland and South America, opening up elite player pathways across the world. Through these partnerships, we gain access to world class resources, extensive recruitment networks and elite-level data analysis – allowing us to both recruit and produce exceptional talent.
Elite Competition
We compete in the USL Academy (NorCal Division), facing top academies and elite clubs in a highly competitive environment built to develop the best young players. The USL Academy mirrors the professional calendar and connects directly to USL Championship clubs, creating a clear pathway from youth soccer to the professional game.
The ultimate goal is qualification for the USL Academy League Finals in November, where the top teams from divisions across the country advance to a 16-team national championship tournament to compete for the title.
This platform provides players with meaningful, high-level matches, national exposure, and the opportunity to develop in a professional environment alongside a USL Championship club—preparing them for both collegiate soccer and the next step in the professional pathway.
