Connections: Monterey Bay F.C. has several connections to Las Vegas Lights FC, starting with Sporting Director and Head Coach Frank Yallop. In 2020, Yallop took over for Eric Wynalda to coach the side for a season. During that season, Yallop coached current Monterey Bay F.C. players Grant Robinson, Mobi Fehr, and Seku Conneh. MBFC midfielder James Murphy also has a connection to Lights FC, as he played on loan for Las Vegas in 2018 after signing with MLS side LAFC.
Opponent’s Previous Match: In Las Vegas’ previous match, the side traveled to Sacramento to take on Republic FC. Despite scoring early in the match to take the opening 1-0 lead, Lights FC conceded just before the half. Following an uneventful second half, the match ended 1-1 with both sides taking a point on the day.
Notes: Cardinale Stadium will open its doors for the first time on Saturday, while the contest will mark the Crisp and Kelp’s inaugural match at home. Monterey Bay F.C. will look to build momentum with the schedule finally swinging in its favor with three home matches this month alone. Las Vegas Lights FC will be looking to play the role of spoiler and is 9-42-11 all-time on the road.
