SALINAS, Calif. (Monday, August 1, 2022) – Monterey Bay Football Club (Monterey Bay F.C.) midfielder Simon Dawkins and goalkeeper Carlos Herrera visited a youth Asthma Camp hosted by Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare (SVMH) in Salinas, California on Wednesday, July 27.
Following a few pictures, Dawkins and Herrera spent time kicking the ball around with the children at the event before sitting down for lunch and a movie. Before the movie began, the Union players handed out MBFC wristbands, stickers, face tattoos and signed autographs before also giving out ticket discounts to the club’s upcoming match against El Paso Locomotive FC.
SVMH’s Annual Asthma Camp offers children living with asthma the unique opportunity to learn how to better manage their condition while still experiencing a summer camp environment with other children and adults who understand the impact of asthma. This past week was the 36th year running for the camp.
“I really enjoyed being out in the community, spending time with the kids and being a part of such an impactful camp,” explained Dawkins. “The camp was a great way to bring all the kids together to play games, interact with one another and have fun. The kids were great, they really enjoyed their time with us, and us them. We were all having a laugh together kicking the ball around. Getting out into the community like this is great, it’s really important for us as a club, and we had a lot of fun. It really means a lot to me to be active in the surrounding areas to see how excited the younger generations are to have a local football team.”
