Guzmán, Trager Named to USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 10
SEASIDE, California (Tuesday, May 14, 2024) – Monterey Bay F.C. ended its three game slide with a point at home in a 2-2 draw over Memphis 901 FC on a Saturday night at Cardinale Stadium that saw a wild ending with each team scoring a goal in the final two minutes. The result kept Monterey Bay in fourth place in the Western Conference table and was highlighted by the individual performances of Carlos Guzmán and Tristan Trager. Now, Guzmán has earned a spot on USL Championship’s Team of the Week XI for Week 10, with Trager joining him on the Team of the Week bench.
Following his performance over the weekend, Guzmán has now impressively earned his third Team of the Week nod through just the first 10 weeks of the season. In the match, Guzmàn beautifully set up Mobi Fehr for the Crisp-and-Kelp’s first goal of the night and had two chances created overall. He hit the woodwork on his lone attempt, and completed 46 of 65 passes. Defensively, Guzmán added three interceptions and three clearances.
Trager’s reserve nod comes after the forward delivered yet another solid performance for Monterey Bay, capped off by a 90th minute equalizer to secure a point at home. He also drew three fouls, including one penalty won, created two chances, and forced a save with another shot. In addition, Trager won nine duels on the night.
