Sporting Director & Head Coach Frank Yallop
On the result:
“We played a very good team tonight. They’ve got some really good players and I thought our team really performed well. All of our guys were great at keeping their shape and attacked well. We had some really good chances to score a goal, especially in the first half. It was an even game and they had some good chances as well. I think the crowd was entertained as well, that’s for sure. Getting a draw is not the end of the world, it moved up into third place for now. We’d love to win, but we played against a really good team tonight. I thought our guys performed very well.”
On keeping an eye on the standings:
“We’ve got to keep an eye on it of course. Any point is another point towards the playoffs, so not dropping points is important and we didn’t do that tonight. I thought we thoroughly deserved the point tonight. We’ve got a few guys out, but I thought the guys that came into the team, the subs, and all the things that go into a 90-minute game were very good tonight from our side of things – other than getting that final touch to get a goal. You’ve got to tip your hat to Charleston. They’re a good team and don’t get beat very often. They’re very dangerous and they score a lot of goals in the league but we held our own against them tonight so it feels good. We’re getting ready and looking forward to Sunday. Hopefully we can get a win, but again we’re playing a very good team against New Mexico. They’re high up in our league, they are first right now in the West. So it doesn’t get any easier. This league is tough, but we’re performing well and it’s nice to be home. We’ve had seven out of 12 games away before this game so it was nice to get home and see our fans again.”
Goalkeeper Antony Siaha
On the clean sheet:
“It’s my job to keep a clean sheet, so it’s always good to do so. Considering how it’s going right now having lost two games on the road, a point is good. It’s better than zero, so we’ll keep the high momentum going into the next game. The whole team was locked in together. It’s our collective goal to keep clean sheets, but we’ve been letting a lot of goals in recently, so this was big for us. Everybody wanted it tonight, it was all about intensity and mentality. Now we’re going to do our best to continue it.”
On rotating the squad due to injuries:
“The biggest thing this year is that we’re all playing together. We win together and we lose together. So with the new guys coming on, we cheer them on so they can do their best. Everything is together right now so it’s good.”
On going toe-to-toe with the leaders in the Eastern Conference:
“It builds our confidence. All of these games we played recently, the form we’ve been in, it doesn’t define us. We’re still a really good team and we proved it today. We just need to try to stay healthy and continue to do our best. Now it’s back to training tomorrow to get ready to execute against New Mexico.”
