Head Coach Jordan Stewart
On his managerial debut:
“Obviously, we lost, so that’s disappointing. For me, we had the majority of the play, especially in the buildup. They kind of sat in and were on counters which was what we expected. I think they had two shots on goal and two goals. In some aspects, in transition, we struggled at times. But overall, these are the games we need to try and win, especially at home. The boys are disappointed, but we still know we have eleven games left, and we have to bounce back straight away. Tough game against New Mexico, and we have to keep applying and improving day by day in the training and keep pushing in the games.”
On his first week:
“I think overall, all the boys have been working well this week. A lot of the stuff we have been doing in training you see out there on the field today. Like I said, it’s an improvement, I spoke to the guys and said you want to gradually get better, but still, we have to have the aim of making the playoffs. Still working on the fundamentals in training and then hoping to bring them across, so when it does click, we can start winning games.”
On his late match tactics and message to the team:
“Especially when they have ten men we want to push. We do want to build, but when they have a man down and we’re a goal down, then yeah we have to push. Obviously, next week we’ll go through the scouting report and see how New Mexico plays and then adjust accordingly. We want to be on the front foot and be proactive rather than reactive, and then put the onus on them even though we’re playing away.”
