
Match Recap: Monterey Bay FC Earns 1-1 Draw Against Oakland Roots SC
OAKLAND, California (Saturday, August 15, 2026) — Monterey Bay FC earned a point on the road with a 1-1 draw against NorCal rival Oakland Roots SC at the Oakland Coliseum.
Oakland opened the scoring just before halftime when Bertin Jacquesson’s effort took a deflection and found the back of the net in the 45th minute. Monterey Bay responded in the second half and continued to build momentum as the match entered its final stages.
The Crisp-and-Kelp found the equalizer in the 76th minute when Paul Gindiri’s shot deflected off Oakland defender Jesus De Vicente and into the net to level the match at 1-1. Both sides pushed for a winner over the remaining minutes, but neither was able to find a decisive goal.
Monterey Bay finished the night with nine shots, including four on target, and secured an important road point before turning its attention to its next USL Championship contest against Rhode Island on the 23rd of August.
