Sporting Director & Head Coach Frank Yallop
On the match:
“It was an end-to-end game – really exciting for the fans, a little frustrating that we couldn’t get a win, but when you score an equalizer late it does feel like you got something back out of the game. We had a chance to win it actually, with Chase [Boone]’s chance right at the end. I can’t fault the guys for their effort, I think we played some good stuff. We played against a good team, Memphis had won two in a row in the league coming into this game so they’re definitely a team on the up. Every game is difficult, but it was pretty even and I enjoyed our attacking flair in the second half especially.”
On ending the slide with a point:
“It’s always good to get something out of the game. Three points are important in any match to propel you up the table but to take a point away is fine. We go away to Loudoun on our next trip so hopefully we can get something in that game, hopefully a win. All in all I think the guys have played very well this season and we’ve been a little bit unlucky to not win a couple more games. In general I’m very happy with where we’re at, fourth in the table. I would have taken that at the start of the season. The guys are excelling, I think Xavi [Gnaulati] came on and made a difference in the game which was great. In general our play was good and bright, it was good to watch and the fans enjoyed it.”
Midfielder Mobi Fehr
On his goal and Guzman’s influence on the team:
“Charly [Guzmán] got the ball across on the second cross and I was there, it was a good place to be at the right time. This year, we’ve wanted to play out of the back and Charly definitely helps with that. He can play center back and left back and split lines, which definitely helps.”
On snapping the three-game losing streak:
“It’s good to not lose a game. Still kind of disappointing because we definitely should have come out with three points. We’ll keep going.”
On Trager’s late equalizer:
“Going down 2-1 in the 87th minute is never good, but it was great from the lads to fight back and get the equalizing goal. It shows that we never give up until the final whistle, and it’s good for our character to put up a fight for sure.”
On moving forward:
“We have some away games coming up, and that’s typically hard, so not losing is our main goal for the next two games. We’ve been starting slow, so we have to come out flying from the start of the game, especially away from home.”
On messages to the younger players:
“It’s good for the younger guys right now because there’s competition in the squad that pushes the starting eleven to consistently play at a high level. The younger guys should keep doing what they’re doing and keep coming for our spots.”
