On the result:
“I’m disappointed in the performance, I think we started flat. They were more aggressive than us in the first half especially. Once they scored, then we started picking up and we looked like our normal selves. Just a bit disappointed in how we started the game. I don’t think we were on the front foot enough. We started slow, and ball loss was highly evident. In the last 10-15 minutes when we started pushing Kai [Greene] and Lara up top, we started winning more aerial duels and started to get the momentum. But it shouldn’t take those kinds of scenarios for us to want to compete. In general, when we look back it’s one of our poorer performances.”
On the positives the team can take from the match:
“In the second half we were more brave, especially when they were pressing high. There were spells of the game that we got out and were able to progress up the field. In general, we looked flatter than we usually do, especially for it being our last home game. It’s disappointing. Ultimately, we have one more game on the road. We seem to do better on the road, I don’t know the reasons why. But we’ll reflect over the weekend and go into the last week knowing we’re going to try and finish strong and get a win. We’ll also reflect on things that we can do better.”
On how the game plan will differ in Tulsa:
“Every game is different. We changed our press probably three times in this game just because of their movements and what they were doing. In the second half, I felt like it got better and sometimes we’re building in different areas just depending on what the opposition gives us. But every game is different no matter who is starting or who doesn’t start. It’s more of the system, and then within that system giving the guys creativity to showcase their skills.”
